At BaySmiles Dental, we understand that your smile is a vital part of your identity. Missing teeth can affect more than your appearance; they can diminish your confidence, impact your ability to eat or speak comfortably, and lead to long-term oral health issues. Thankfully, dental implants offer a transformative solution to these challenges, restoring your smile’s beauty, functionality, and health.
Dental implants are regarded as one of the most significant advancements in modern dentistry. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants provide a permanent, natural-looking replacement for missing teeth. Their durability, functionality, and lifelike appearance make them a preferred choice for patients seeking a long-term solution. At BaySmiles Dental, we are proud to offer personalized implant dentistry services tailored to meet your unique needs and goals.
Dental implants mimic the structure of natural teeth, offering unmatched stability and support. Each implant consists of a small titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone through a natural process called osseointegration, creating a secure foundation for a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture.
What sets dental implants apart is their ability to replace both the visible portion of a tooth and its root. This comprehensive replacement provides several advantages:
Dental implants not only restore missing teeth but also protect your oral health, preserving the structure of your jaw and the alignment of surrounding teeth.
Losing a tooth can be an emotional experience. Whether caused by decay, injury, or gum disease, missing teeth can significantly impact your self-esteem and quality of life. Even a single missing tooth can cause difficulties in chewing, affect your speech, and alter the balance of your bite, potentially leading to further dental issues.
Beyond the immediate functional and aesthetic concerns, the long-term effects of tooth loss are profound. Over time, the absence of a tooth root leads to the resorption of the surrounding jawbone. This process can result in changes to your facial structure, such as sagging cheeks or a sunken appearance, which can make you look older than you are.
Dental implants address these challenges comprehensively, offering a solution that restores not only your smile but also your confidence and overall well-being.
At BaySmiles Dental, we believe that no two smiles are the same. That’s why we take a personalized approach to implant dentistry. Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, during which we evaluate your oral health, discuss your goals, and determine whether implants are the right choice for you.
Advanced diagnostic tools, such as 3D imaging and digital X-rays, allow us to assess the health of your jawbone and plan your treatment with precision. If your jawbone has experienced significant resorption, we may recommend preparatory procedures like bone grafting or sinus augmentation to ensure a stable foundation for your implants.
Once your treatment plan is finalized, we guide you through every step of the process, from the placement of the implants to the attachment of your custom restoration. Our goal is to provide a seamless and comfortable experience, ensuring that you feel informed and confident at every stage.
The process of receiving dental implants is methodical and designed for long-term success. Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
Choosing dental implants is an investment in your long-term health, appearance, and quality of life. Patients who opt for implants often report life-changing benefits, including:
Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Most adults with good oral health are candidates for dental implants. During your consultation, we’ll assess factors like bone density, gum health, and overall medical history to determine if implants are right for you.
Will the Procedure Be Painful?
The implant placement process is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, ensuring that you remain comfortable. Post-surgical discomfort is typically mild and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
How Long Does the Process Take?
The timeline for receiving implants varies depending on your individual needs. While the process may take several months to allow for healing and osseointegration, the results are well worth the wait.
Maintaining your dental implants is straightforward. Good oral hygiene, including brushing twice daily, flossing, and regular dental check-ups, will keep your implants and surrounding teeth healthy. Unlike traditional dentures, implants don’t require special adhesives or cleaning solutions.

Don’t let missing teeth hold you back. With dental implants, you can reclaim the function, beauty, and health of your smile—one that’s built to last a lifetime.
If you've lost a tooth due to injury, decay, gum disease, or any other reason, we recommend dental implants to replace missing teeth. Dental implants come the closest to replicating the look, feel, and function of your natural teeth.
Dental implants are placed into the jawbone and mirror the same function as the root of a tooth. The procedure for dental implants is usually performed while a patient is sedated. Patients who undergo IV sedation must have an empty stomach and transportation home following the procedure. Most sedation patients will have little to no memory of the procedure occurring.
Generally, dental implants are made out of a biocompatible metal such as titanium. Biocompatible metals are also used for other common bone implants (such as shoulder, hip, and knee replacements). The visible portion of the implant is usually made out of porcelain and is custom-made to match your existing teeth.
Dental implants are designed to fuse to the bone, which makes them become permanent fixtures. Typically speaking, the success rate is nearly 100%. There are few cases in which the implant will not fuse as intended and must be removed. If this happens to occur, the procedure can be attempted again a few months later.
Dental implants are not usually covered by dental insurance, but may be covered under a patient's medical insurance. Our office and your insurance company can discuss coverage options with you based on your individual case and treatment plan.
